The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Department of Health have launched a massive vaccination campaign to avoid measles and polio among Yolanda survivors. Children under five are also given vitamin A to boost their immune system.
UNICEF and WHO are urging all medical relief teams to promote and protect maternal milking to prevent a high rate of mortality with children. 12000 children will be born in rural areas this month which must exclusively be fed from the milk of their mother to increase protection against potentially deadly infections.

1/3 of children were fed from their mother’s milk before the typhoon and the exclusive support for milking mothers is an emergency salvation measure for children.
